Ribspreader

1. Greetings! Thanks for taking some time to answer my questions! How are you lately?
No problem, answering interviews is always nice as it shows that atleast someone listens to shit we record... As for my personal state it´s pretty much the same as always, kinda crap but atleast I´m still alive. even if that´s nothing to be all tingly about though.

2. I won't stop much on your past cause I guess you already said all that was to be said on Paganizer, still I'll ask you why did you killed and burried it. There's no point of turning back, I suppose.
Well, as the statement on the Paganizer website says the band is put on ice for the time being and at this stage there are no plans for defrosting the corpse. Paganizer has made some very good albums (I think atleast) and I see no point in resurrecting the band just to record something and then get back to a state of inactivity. If I some day manage to find people dedicated to the band and if some label is willing to put some money and work into a new album and most imortantly liveshows I would definetly concider reactivating the band, but I´m not too sure there is such demand for a rather small unknown band as Paganizer. As always time will tell, but if the band turns out to be dead forever I atleast think we did some really good stuff while we played and that´s really all that counts if you ask me.

3. What's the main reason to start a new band? Are there any new ideas you couldn't do musically in Paganizer, as the new line-up is in fact the old one?
The main idea behind Ribspreader was only to record an album with some cool music and have Swanö help out as he´s a genius both when it comes to production and playing. The reason the old Paganizer lineup is now instead in Ribspreader is mainly because a trio is not enough people to keep Paganizer going as the music done through the yeasr has always been based on having two guitarplayers. In Ribspreader we on the other hand can play more simplistic stuff wich works as a trio, and the music we now are working on is also empty from all double guitarstuff aswell as superflous riffs and arrangements as we now concentrate on doing ultrasimple death metal as it should sound. One big factor is of course also that we are too loust musicians to be able to play PAganizer material drunk, but the new Robspreader stuff will work even with ten beers in the system.

4. Although you changed your band's name, you remained in the same scene, the death/grind one. It seems you are feelings confortable being a part of it... What makes you enjoy it?
The music of course. even if i listen to many different sorts of music oldschool brutal death metal is always something I will both play and listen to. Some people like country more than anything. I like songs about raping corpses. It´s really as simple as that.

5. Dan Swano helped you on your debut album. How come and how did you felt collaborating with him?
I´ve known Swanö for some time, and then he asked me to do most vocals on the Edge of Sanity "crimson II" album. After that it felt natural to ask him to help me out with some songs I had laying around and that was how Ribspreader came to be. The name Ribspreader was at first intended for a project me and Tobben/Vomitory had in mind but that didn´t happen so it was used for this project with Swanö instead. As for how the collaboration felt and went i can only say it was really cool. Swanö is probably the most professional guy in the whole scene, he can pretty much do anything when it comes to any form of music. He´s a genious to put it short.

6. "Bolted to The Cross" is your debut. What can you tell us about it? Please present it to our readers.
It´s eight songs of pure oldschool death metal in the Swedish vein. Very much influenced by bands like Carnage and Grave but also older US bands like Death, Repulsion, Autopsy and Massacre. Swanö decided to play the drums as oldschool as he could and it turned out to benefit the songs really well, if I had been telling him how to play i should probably have told him to put some double bassdrums and grind in there but he´s not too good at that type of drumming, haha. The way the album turned out really surprised even me, and I´m still very happy with it. It´s way better than the new album wich is coming out soon, wich is a bit sad really.

7. Was it hard until you hooked up with Karmageddon Media? How are you satisfied with their help?
After the album was recorded it only took a month or so to find a label, so Karmageddon was pretty much the first label we talked to. They have done ok with the album I think. I haven´t gotten very much information but I hope they atleast have been able to get their money back on their sales.

8. Who writes your lyrics and what are they about? They seem rather personal inspired ones. Why didn't you go on the gory or horror side like most of the bands in your category do?
You think the lyrics are personal? Well than you, haha. It´s my standard "hate humanity and religion" lyrics as I always write them, plus the normal amount of "rotting in a casket" lyrics. The reason I haven´t used any gory lyrics so far is simply that I haven´t though about really. I have shitloads of more gory stugg written, so on coming material I will probably use them instead of the antireligious stuff that I´m usually writing for my bands.

9. On your site you posted a statment about your second videoclip... Please tell us more about it and again, tell us about the first one.
Eh? Videoclip? I think you mean audioclip anyway. Not much to tell really, just surf into the site and listen to the damn thing, haha.

10. You are planning an EP at the moment. Why are you searching for a label? What about Karmageddon? Or the thing is only for the EP?
Karmageddon wasn´t interested in releasing the EP, wich is a bit sad but I guess it maybe would not generate so much money. So any label interested should get in touch, we have a bunch of new really dirty and brutal songs wich would be cool to sue for an EP or maybe a split with some band.

11. Who is Ribspreader at the time? What are you doing beside the band? Forgot to ask you about the band's name: who thought of it? It is great in my oppinion.
Ribspreader at this point is me (Rogga) - vocals and guitars, Patrik - bass, Matte - drums. Besides the band some of us work and some don´t. All of us however drink lots of beer. except Matte who is kind of a pussy, and he´s also working at a prison wich is kinda strange work for a deathmetal degenerate. Anyway, the name Ribspreader was my idea. I have no clue how it came to me when I try to remember... My guess is that all great bandnames just pop into the head all of a sudden.

12. Any touring plans in view? What can we expect from you on stage?
No plans right now, but when we have rehearsed material for a possible EP and also a third album we will for sure be available for gigs, maybe sometime after the summer we´ll try to hook up some gigs if any label has released the Ep by then. There is no point going out to play if no one has heard any of the material and we will not play anything from the 2 albums as they were written with two guitarplayers in mind. What tp expect from Ribspreader on stage? Three beerdrinking unshaven guys with long filthy hair playing uttery simple and depraved death metal with really bad lyrics and overused badly aged riffs. What more could anyone wish for? Really?

13. Ok, that would be all for now. Hopefully we'll have the chance to talk again soon. Good luck with the band!
Thank you very much.
