Deathwork

1. Greetings, Fabrizio! How are you at the moment? Prepared to give Tempest Music readers some details on your band?
Hi, I'm ok thanks. Start to saying that Deathwork has been formed in summer 2002 and playes a solid and pure death/thrash. In September 2003 sees the light our first release, a 5 tracks demo (one of which, "No Mercy", played already with my old band, Hammerhead). Various gigs and promotional activities have been followed in the following months, the demo receives good consents and after two years we've given life to "Evolve to Extinguish".

2. Your band isn't such an old one, so please tell us how did it all started and who were the founders?
Deathwork initially has been formed by Luigi and me, subsequently has joined to us Christian (guitar) and various members but with them we've not had the just understanding. Some month later after several line-up changes has joined to us Armando (drums) and finally the last one to have got into Deathwork has been Riccardo (bass-player) that has been deserved a stable place in formation.

3. After a year from your foundation your first demo was out. Please tell us what do we need to know on this demo. Is it still available? How can we buy it, where from and how expensive?
"Dissolution of Eternity" is our first demo cd, featuring 5 tracks, ("Deathwork" of all
is a real "warhorse" since the beginning) is still available and is possible buying it
through contacts on our official website www.deathwork.com at the price of 6,00€ for
Europe and 8,00€ for overseas, postage included.

4. It seems you have a pretty solid name in Sicily and that's dued mostly to your live
appearances. How often do you have the chance to play live? How many guys come
to one of your shows? There is not a stable mean of gigs, it changes on the basis of
our possibilities and periods of organization, I can say that for being still rooted in
underground people is present to our shows and seems appreciate that we play.

5. I guess for you playing in Italy is kinda like playing in another country as you have
to pass a quite big sea territory. Do you often have the chance to play live in "the boot"?
Ever played outside Italy? Planning to?
Undoubtedly play in Italy that is our nation is good and is not hard make it although our
geographic location. I do not deny that I would like quite a lot to play elsewhere too,
outside from Italy, indeed I'll say you that it's one of our biggest aspirations, expand us
outside of our national borders, and maybe we'll be able to find it also more pleasant
seeing the valid scenes that there are, musically we'll feel more at "home". I personally have travelled much in Europe and it would like to travel over the same places again playing with my band. In Rumania never be up to now, it fascinates me and I hope to pass also from there in future.

6. Who's Deathwork at the moment? Please present us each of you.
The line-up has not endured variations since first demo, although lately 2 members
(drummer and bass-player) has been moved in another town (Bologna) for job we're
always in contact and play together. Everyone of us ( except Christian still student )
beyond music is engaged in the daily working activities, trying to conciliate both the things given that play remains our biggest passion. Beyond Deathwork we've also some parallel projects: Fabrizio "Slaughterhouse" (grind-death); Armando "Berserker" (Epic metal since 1989); Chris "Unavenged" (heavy metal); Riccardo "Southern Black Sand" (Nu Thrash-prong).

7. "Evolve to Estinguish" is your new MCD. How would you characterize it. Which are the changes from your previous product?
"Evolve to Extinguish" is our second release. An Ep featuring 6 new tracks more an intro played only by Luigi and me. The sound is based always on thrash tunes with death and grind influences. According to an our personal opinion (for who has listened the first demo) has been brought some changes or, more correctly, some improvements of technical character, songs turn out more ripe, more structured, and more complete, demonstrating as the general ability of the band are in increase. The sound turns to be more cured and it allows to perceive every single instrument and generally the one that we want to express. Obviously in future we'll try to enjoy one still higher production released by a valid label.

8. How are you planning to promote this new product? How are the reactions so far?
Recently we've signed a promotional contract with EG – Publiche Relazioni of Emanuele Gentile, to which we've entrusted our full promotional activity for"Evolve toExtinguish", with positive presuppositions and full trust I hope in a solid and serious collaboration, that it picks good yields... a valid label that produces us.

9. Where was this new CD recorded and how much time did it take you to do it?
"Evolve..." has been recorded and mixed at "Officina Sonora Analogica" (Italy). The composition and elaboration sessions are going on a few months, while the recording time it's lasted only 4 days.

10. What can you tell us about your lyrics? Do you have any messages for the listeners?
Our lyrics mainly treat of the decadence of human values under all the points of view... religious, social, moral and how they are more and more cause of inner suffering that are manifested individually and then spreaded in collective (wars, conflicts between individuals of same or various race) generating what is more and more a dark and sad vision of a world, that is obstinated to show itself happy with its fuckin' standards... but of fact it is not.

11. What plans do you have for this new year? Any new tracks in work?
Mainly we'll take care of promotional and live activity, that lately it has been slowed down. Since some months we're working to new songs that will be on our future debut album.

12. Thanks you for your kindness in answering this and wish you all the good luck. Please say your last words for our readers. Hope to talk again soon.
I hope too, very thanks to Pest 'zine for availability to interview us, hoping to receive good consents also from the Rumanian metalheads.
Cheers!
